The University of Minnesota neighborhood is in the University Community of Minneapolis. The Mississippi River divides it into two, making it the only Minneapolis neighborhood to occupy both sides of the river. On the west bank, the neighborhood is bound by 1st Street on the north, 19th Avenue on the west, 4th Street on the south, and the river to the east. The neighborhood is so named because most of it is made up by the University of Minnesota Twin Cities’ campus. This district thrives because of the presence of the campus.
