The North End is located in the northern segment St. Paul. The neighborhood is bordered by Dale Street to the west, Larpenteur Avenue on the north, Interstate 35E to the east and the Burlington Northern Railroad track and Maryland Avenue to the south. The State Capitol Building is at the southern edge of the neighborhood. Public schools in the area include North End Elementary, Washington Middle School and Arlington High School. The North End shares public and private schools with the Como Park neighborhood. Residents here take pleasure in biking, running and walking along picturesque Wheelock Parkway, which connects Lake Como and Lake Phalen. It’s also the beginning of the Gateway Bike Trail that crosses 18.3 miles from St. Paul to historic Stillwater at Pine Point County Park.
