The Fulton neighborhood is in the Southwest Community of Minneapolis. Its borders are 47th Street West, Penn Avenue South, 54th Street West and France Avenue South. The neighborhood takes its name from Robert Fulton, the engineer and artist who invented the steamboat in the 19th century. The neighborhood is part of the Minneapolis school district and home to Lake Harriet Community School for grades K-8. High school students from Fulton attend Southwest Middle High School. The busy 50th Street West has a commercial district that extends well into Edina. The Fulton Neighborhood Association actively encourages renovation, restoration and beautification with grants and prizes.
