East Calhoun is a part of the larger Calhoun-East Isles community in central Minneapolis. Often called ECCO for its active neighborhood association, this district is bordered by Lake Street on the north, Hennepin Avenue to the east, 36th Street on the south, and Calhoun Parkway and Lake Calhoun to the west. This neighborhood bills itself as the "epicenter of the Twin Cities" and it lives up to that moniker, offering theater, shopping, dining, parks, and more. Part of the Uptown area, the streets of East Calhoun are lined with an array of shops, stores, cafes, theaters malls and even a few parks. One of East Calhoun’s borders is Lake Calhoun, one of the most popular lakes in Minneapolis. It offers recreational activities and is a place for residents to walk, jog or bike ride around the shore.
