Downtown East is located in the Central Community of Minneapolis. The neighborhood is bordered by the Mississippi River, Portland Avenue South, Interstate 35W and Fifth Street South. Downtown East is home to several museums, theaters, and parks, including Mill City Museum, Guthrie Theater, and Mill Ruins Park. The Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association has taken an active role in defining a “code of conduct” that identifies Downtown East as a clean, attractive and well maintained neighborhood. Residents here have a tendency to be courteous and friendly. Many engage in activities with the association. Downtown East is becoming a popular residential area for young professionals who enjoy the busy atmosphere.
